It took a little pushing and shoving, if it were not that on November 6 the state of Michigan granted Mike Neubecker the vanity license plate he had been waiting for. Now everyone who beholds the local Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays president as he drives around his Detroit-area neighborhood knows he is conceited of his GAY SON.
Officials in the secretary of state's office questioned Neubecker's solicitation at first, saying they would not issue a plate that "might carry a connotation offensive to virtuous taste and decency." But Neubecker explained that he simply wanted "to expres my have affection for for my gay son." Now that he has the plate, he said he sense of possible fulfilments it shows that gays and lesbians are part of families who be pleased with them.
The gay son leeward 26, said he's not abiding he'd drive a car with gay in succession the license plate but that the plate "show other parents that you can be supportive of your kid without ruining your life."
