A telephone help line establish up for military personnel with health questions is catching the ire of the religious right for seeming to reveal callers, "It's OK to be gay." The recorded message, which starts from saying "Homosexuality--having affection and sexual attraction to the same sex--is something that appears in about 10% of the population," also appears to fly in the face of the Pentagon's discriminatory policy regarding gay and lesbian service members. The recording goe forward to tell callers that homosexuality is normal, that gays and lesbians can make advantageous parents, and that gay persons often face prejudice.

The right-wing Family Research Council says the Pentagon is disseminating bogus propaganda, however a spokesperson from Tricare, which produc the recording for the Department of Defense said it was not ever intended to reflect Pentagon policy.
